Sweet Like Sugar
Here's a cream colored dress I recently purchased. I added that clear belt from Speigel which is a favorite of mine! It's great because it allows the outfit colors to come through!

Everyday Alexander McQueen
Just when I thought I had seen all the amazing dresses I ever could on Michelle Obama, she pulls out an Alexander McQueen masterpiece for the state dinner she and the President were hosting Wednesday night in honor of Chinese President Hu Jintao.
Just think about it...Alexander McQueen on a First Lady? He of the armadillo shoe and Lady Gaga
ensembles. So I looked online for a McQueen frock that has an everyday appeal and found this little gem from the McQ line.

Mrs. Obama's Sheath Dress
I love a woman who isn't afraid of color! Our first lady is fearless when it comes to color in her wardrobe. When I think of her, three words come to mind...bright sheath dress!
I love her floral sheath dresses and it took some time to find one for myself. I finally did. This is a Jones New York sheath for petites. I like that it fits both my bust and hip areas! A major obstacle when I look for sheaths which is why I don't wear this shape often, even though I love the look.
Now, I just have to wait for spring. I told my husband this a good look for a garden party, Easter or if I get invited to the White House. Whichever comes first. But the woman in the dressing room said "That dress is a keeper, wear it with black tights now!" So that's what I'll do for now.

Day to Night Barbie
I cannot tell you how much I loved this Barbie as a kid. I even had the Day to Night Office/Apartment.
I love the idea of having a day look and then transforming into something else for night. So here are two looks I created with a similar dual nature.
DAY
(with a splash of night)
(with a splash of night)
This is more like a Saturday or day off look. I love the ruffles on the plaid shirt. Gap still offers a version of this shirt as seen below. I topped it off with a sequin vest. The bag is also a nod to the night...but still cute for day!
Shirt: Gap
Vest: H and M
Jeans: NY& Co.
Heels: Nine West
Bag: TransVersion (bought at the old GirlShop.com site)
NIGHT
(with a touch of day)
(with a touch of day)
Here's my night look. A sheath dress that is very Jackie O! This dress also works very well during the day and has the first lady appeal of not only Jackie, but Mrs.Obama !
Being curvy, a sheath was never my best option. This dress works for me because there is seaming on the hip area and a slight A-line hem. So it is form fitting, but my hips have some wiggle room! By definition, not a true sheath, but close enough! The modest cut of this dress is perfect for just about any evening out like a Broadway show or a nice dinner (at dare I say...The White House:)
Dress: OC by Oleg Cassini
Heels: Nine West
