I Want Candy

I'm busy preparing treat bags for the trick or treaters! Nothing better than a table full of Tootsie Rolls!
I'll post my costume (you know I dress up) tomorrow!

Bday Dinner at Shang!

Just came from dinner at Shang and it was amazing. We asked the waitress if Susur Lee was there and she said he just left. Aw man! She said he was a great person too. Maybe I'll go back and meet him next time. On to the food! It was fantastic. I had the chicken, beef and shrimp satay and lobster "cooked" sushi for an appetizer. Sauteed shrimp and scallops for my entree. YUM

Glitter Bug

I wanted to wear a dress for my birthday but it was cold in NYC. I decided to go for a dark look with a touch of glitter! That's my Mulberry for Target bag that I think makes a good evening bag. Out of the entire Mulberry for Target line, that little black bag was my favorite. I found it in the store since they are sold out online.

Birthday Cake for Everyone

Today's my birthday! Yaay! Time to eat cake! Even back then I loved cake and pink hats!
That's my mom on the right trying to stop me from blowing out the candle too soon.

It's my Birthday...Sh Shang!

I am a hardcore foodie. So for my birthday, my husband is taking me to Shang. If you watched Top Chef Masters last summer, you may recall that Susur Lee, head chef at Shang, was pretty much the bomb. So I am super excited to go to his beautiful restaurant in NYC! I am going to try to work my charm and meet him (if he's there). Pictures and post coming soon!!!

Photo Flashback: Caricature

This is more of a "drawing" flashback. I had an artist draw a caricature of me at South Street Seaport a few years ago. When I went to my mom's house today, she gave me this since I forgot to take it when I moved out. I remember it was a hot day. I created a small braid and used it as a headband and you can see it in that picture. My outfit was a gray tank top and cargo pants.

It's so cool how these artists capture your essence. A lot of it is in the way your eyes are drawn. I do that "side" glance a lot, lol.  He got my personality down too...quiet sometimes, but with a whole lot of "party" behind my eyes just waiting to come out!

It's Black, It's White

It was soo warm today in NY, that I could probably get away with not wearing tights with this. One minute I am wearing my wool cape and shopping for pom pom hats and the next second I am getting summer flashbacks! That's fall I guess.

Now, I'm crazy about color, but sometimes you can't beat a black and white combo.

The best part...black and white floral dresses are really on trend right now. Here's a dress with a graphic floral design and a few options below with a very similar pattern.

Shopping, then Soup

I had a bit of a cold today, so to cheer up I went to DSW. I didn't find shoes, but I did find this cute little pom pom hat.

After the shopping I had some soup. I'm never very hungry when I'm sick, but I do drink a lot of fluids. I love Japanese food (sick or not) so sometimes instead of chicken soup, I make miso. Accompanied by some green tea. Shopping, then soup? I think I'm feeling better already!

All About the Shoes

OOh, I saw a certain starlet wearing Louboutin leopard booties and I was determined to find a less expensive alternative! So, I wandered into a couple of juniors' "party" stores to see what I could find. I found these at Mandee's and paired them with an LBD I bought at another juniors' hotspot...Joyce Leslie. Someone's ready to party...me!

*Can you guess which celebrity inspired my look?

Perfume, Nudity and Bowler Hats

I've loved hats forever! I usually wear fedoras, newsboys and floppy "diva" hats. But I decided it was about time to go for this bowler style. At first I wasn't sure if I'd look too much like a NKOTB fan from back in the day (which I was) but you know what, I had to have it! Here is the Coco Mademoislle ad featuring the beautiful Keira Knightly that also inspired me to buy a bowler. My husband also bought me that perfume for Christmas last year and I love it. If you haven't tried it, check it out. It's lighter and fruitier than the classic No.5 and a little more modern.

Here's my take on it. I decided to wear a bit more clothes (although I included a gratuitous teeny bit of my belly)...

Cape for a Coat

I don't like wearing coats until its winter time, so for fall I wear a lot of capes and vests. I'm also wearing my new oxford booties I featured in an earlier post!

Turtleneck: Kenneth Cole Reaction
Shorts: MixIt
Tights: Donna Karan

I Just Bought: Chocolate Boots

Elle at ShopStyle

I was dying for a pair of brown boots. It's more fun to call them chocolate though! I own a ton of black ones, but I need something more to wear with warm colors. I picked these up at Kohl's and they are now sold out online, but you may be able to find in stores. Mine are a little snug but I had to have 'em so I hope they stretch a bit!  These look a little like my black Nine West oxfords. I am just loving lace up oxfords right now. Outfit on its way!

Here are more cute ones!

Daytime Diva

I imagine this is what a diva would typically wear to chill during the daytime and spend some time getting her nails done and grabbing Starbucks. As Tim Gunn calls it..." a sweatsuit alternative". But for me, this is about dressing up!

Hat: Magid Hats
Tank: Gap
Faux Fur jacket: Mercer & Mercer
Leggings: BCBG
Boots: Charlotte Russe

I Just Bought: Oxford Heels and Coat

Nine West at ShopStyle

Here are some new shoes I just bought. They're high heeled oxford booties. They are the perfect shoe to go with skirts and tights, trousers or skinny jeans. Good for the colder months when you're not in the mood for a high boot and you don't want to freeze in heels. They are surprising comfortable too. Outfit to come soon!

I also just bought this Green with Envy coat made from recycled wool. Adorable! The company also suggests that you donate old coats to them so that they may be recycled into new coats. Their slogan is "Enlightened Outerwear". Pretty cool! I'm not as "green" as I could be, so why not start with fashion!

J'adore Chanel

I love Chanel. Although it is way out of my budget, I admire (and lust after it) from afar.

It just turned fall, but you know how fashion is...always looking ahead! The recent Chanel Spring 2011 show featured the iconic tweed blazers styled with shorts and tough shoes. That's what I love about Chanel...there's always a juxtaposition of classy and edgy!  I was inspired to create a similar look so here's my Chanel inspired look for spring. I curled my hair...I think I was inspired by the flower on my blazer! Red lipstick and my new gel eyeliner finish the look.

Blazer: Carol Little
Bag: Paradox for Lord & Taylor
Shirt: Banana Republic
Shorts: A.N.A. (JCPenny)
