Today's Forecast: Spring Shoes

I am so much more inspired by warm weather fashion than I am by winter looks! Especially when it comes to shoes. Here's my latest addition for spring by Steve Madden!

Breakin' All Color Rules

Remember that rule about no white after Labor Day? Me neither! Color rules are kind of arbitrary. I wear whatever colors I like all year round! Here's a white cropped trench jacket that I am loving right now. It's a very good weight and nice, thick cotton for Old Navy! I paired it with a lime green shirt and my leopard scarf.

Pretty in the Garden

My husband just did some major garden work (trimming shrubs, etc) on the worst pollen day of the season thus far! I helped too:). Nature inspires fashion for me in a big way. I love florals, bright colors as well as turquoise and ocean blues! I remember seeing a program about Donna Karan. And she picked up a gorgeous rock and told the interviewer how nature and those colors in the rock could inspire her to design a fabulous dress or print.

 Here are a  few shots that remind me that some of the best colors are textures are found in nature.

Inspired by Color Blocking

Color blocking is big for spring. It's basically the idea of wearing big blocks of color together.
For example, a bright pair of pants with an equally bright top or a even a dress with different blocks of color.
To ease into this trend, I started by applying it to accessories. For more fun, I added patterns and belted a blazer.

Gray's Anatomy

Bright color is BIG for spring. But I wear bright colors all the time, so for me the real challenge is to tone down my look. Here's my attempt for a look I can wear now, a study in gray...with a little shine.

Burberry Look for Less

Spring is on the horizon, so I like to have a lightweight jacket on hand. This is a basic black jacket, but I love it. It's quilted and by Gallery. I purchased it at Marshall's. It looks very much like the Burberry coats in this style. If you like that style and was holding off on buying one, check out the Gallery line! They are usually sold at Macy's.
